"it was a pony!! those murderers!!"-lara

August 16, 2003
oh boy. what was supposed to be a semi-road trip turned out to be a full blown out adventure. of course, what do you expect when it's lara and i in a car for three hours? i'll start from the beginning...

we finally got on the road at about 3pm and everything was fine and good until we were about 15 minutes out of chattanooga. i was driving and a car had suddenly put the brakes on because of things in the road. i saw this, but didn't stop right away because i didn't need to. well lara screamed and grabbed my arm making me veer off the road onto the shoulder. i started laughing, but told her to NEVER DO THAT AGAIN.

we reached nashville pretty much unscathed, but then came the 'adventure' part.

we took a wrong turn.

everything was going fine, and i had made it all the way to the louisville/clarksville split. lara decided that since louisville was still on I-65N that we should go that way. I agreed (don't ask why) and so we took that. bad, bad move. that cost us about and hour and half delay because we ended up in River Gate (and i know this because i asked the nice lady at burger king). if i hadn't decided to let lara drive her car after leaving River Gate the delay would only have been 15 minutes. nope. poor judgement on my part.

we got back on the interstate going in the right direction and when suddenly (without any warning to me whatsoever) lara gets off on some exit and we wind up on a completely different interstate! she claimed that she didn't know what she was doing and freaked out. (sounds aboutcright). this wouldn't have been so bad, but we were already on the wrong one to begin with (remember: we went on 65N instead of west and then lara got off on like 31E or something). so i'm trying to keep a cool head about this and think logically...but before i know it we are in downtown nashville. and i mean DOWNTOWN.

we both called our dads to help us.

alright, finally we are on our way to clarksville. once in clarksville we take a few wrong turns, but nothing too drastic. FINALLY! KATIE! we all take showers and head out to see the campus. katie has already met a bunch of football players (score) and we hang out with them for a bit before driving around. it is during this "driving around" that we come across the kappa sigma party in full swing on their front lawn.

i am loving college so far because not only are these boys cute, but school hasn't even started yet and they're throwing a party!

we hang out with them for awhile and then head down the street to the "Pike" party. another frat house with many boys. the highlight of the whole night was seeing two drunk people make out on the porch in front of everyone. lara and i laughed and watched for a few minutes, but as soon as i saw the guy lick the girls ear..i was outta there. katie, lara and i were all having a blast, but we decided to head back up to the kappa sigmas because they were the loudest and had the best beverages. and FOR FREE!

as you can imagine, we all went to bed very tired and i have a large headache as i write this. (partly because of last night, partly because of driving for three hours, and partly because i have a bad head cold anyway).

i have never met so many people in one night. we just went up and introduced ourselves to everyone at both parties. i even made a few friends. ah, college.

and so now i'm back. my knees hurt from driving all day (no way was lara going to drive again) and my head is a throbbing mess.

i think now, i shall take a nap.

ask me about that quote later. funny story.
